Time Dweller

Sharjah Art Museum

Where have I been all this time?

This mirror holds onto a life – a soul without an ache; eyes with peculiar tendencies in an age of fright. I’m a time dweller that never learned to speak. Behind me is a city dying but I’ve no care. I stand by the water for a sign of peace.

A man on the mountaintop blows his horn, sending out a flare but the sky’s ablaze. Waves flow backward, the fire’s burning bright. The city behind me is dead, but I’m alright.

I stand by the water with no attempt to hide.
A heart living beyond the sun sold the world to the man who lives within.

Love, Alyazya

    1. Thank you, Ray! The water has always meant peace to me but it never crossed my mind that the thought of standing by the water in this text came from a place of hope. I really appreciate your comment! Reading it from your perspective is a lot more heartwarming.
