We met underwater on an evening tainted blue
and the night was illuminating your soul’s hue.
I took a step forward.
“Aren’t you afraid of me?”
I’m always jumping off edges, I say.
I no longer fear the fall
’cause the fire is burning me still.
I love love, been covered in red
but I come back to the water.
I jump, taking one breath in.
I hope I drown here …
but my lungs hold on to the water.
Why is the fire burning me still?
“I need you”
… but my heart’s by the shore.
I come closer.
You should be afraid of me, I say
’cause this water can’t drown me
and the fire is burning me still.
Color me blue if you dare.
